3 Reasons to Buy Your Dream Home this Winter!

People generally assume a correlation between the cooling temperatures of winter weather and the housing market. This couldn’t be further from the truth! Here are 3 reasons you should consider buying your dream home this winter instead of waiting for spring!

  1. Prices Will Continue to Rise

Home prices have gradually and steadily increased over the past year. CoreLogic predicts that prices will continue to increase at a rate of 5.2% over the coming year. The bottom in home prices has come and gone. Home values will continue to appreciate for years. Waiting no longer makes sense.

  1. Mortgage Interest Rates are Projected to Increase

Your monthly housing cost is as much related to the price you pay for your home as it is to the mortgage interest rate you secure. As expected, the Federal Reserve increased the prime rate in December, and mortgage rates have gone up marginally in response. An increase in rates will impact YOUR monthly mortgage payment. A year from now, your housing expense will increase if a mortgage is necessary to buy your next home.

  1. Either Way You’re Paying a Mortgage

If you’re currently renting, you’re probably struggling with the idea that in order to own a home, you’ll have to take on a mortgage. The reality is, unless you’re living with your parents rent free, you are paying a mortgage – either yours or your landlord’s. As a renter, you are building equity for your landlord- why not make the commitment to do that for yourself? Are you ready to put your housing cost to work for you?
